as an alternative to traditional ways of showcasing our fall/winter 2009 collection, popomomo instead commissioned a short film from writer/director peter shanel.
using popomomo’s seasonal inspiration of LA noir films as a jumping off point, this film casts a knowing look at noir classics and ideas of identity and control.
the film was shot over two days in the hills of mount washington.
we screened this film at the Mandrake in culver city on march 19th, 2009 to close fashion week. There are pictures of the event here.
Peter Shanel is a writer/director in Los Angeles. He received his MFA from the American Film Institute's directing program. his short film "Quake" played festivals around the country and was chosen to be distributed by iTunes via Shorts International.
